What Should Be Behind Every Service Member?

I’ll never forget where I was when I watched the events of 9/11 unfold. That day shifted something deep inside me—an unwavering commitment to serve my country. But as much as I wanted to rush in and answer the call, life had already changed, and at that moment, I it was  a fact I was too old to return to active duty.

As I watched young men and women leave their families behind to defend our freedom, I couldn't help but think about the incredible support they must have at home—support that keeps them grounded, motivated, and connected to the world beyond the battlefield. The emotional and practical support from loved ones is a lifeline during deployment, and it's something I think about often.

Whether it's the simple joy of hearing your loved one’s voice over the phone or receiving a thoughtful care package, home support plays a key role in helping service members stay strong, focused, and resilient during their time away. But this support isn't just for the service members themselves—families, especially, play a critical role in ensuring their loved ones are supported, both emotionally and practically.
