What’s your Calling?

What’s your calling?
If you don’t have an idea of what that is, you’re not alone. I didn’t know my calling when I found my calling in 2008. The United States (united back then) was embroiled in many conflicts mostly in the Middle East. Whenever I would see that a soldier, Sailor, Airman or Marine was shot, killed or blown up on a mission I would have this deep sadness come over me.
I would think when I heard about those things on the news. How terrible for the Soldier, how terrible for the family and friends. I started thinking about my time in the military during the Vietnam war, while on my deployment to Korea I learned now stressful it was when some in my platoon didn’t get mail from home or a care package from family.
I started dreaming and thinking what on earth could I do to reach out to the military personnel in Combat Zone Areas, that have the stress of everyday battles and living in danger day after day. CTSD – Current Traumatic Stress Disorder is when they are involved in a firefight and lose a buddy in battle. How could I touch their lives in real time? To let them know they are respected, honored, loved and hopefully encouraged by getting a card, letter, care package from someone they don’t even know. Someone that cared and honored them before the unfortunate happened.
That was my Calling! Some have a calling to save animals, fight Cancer, and many other worthy causes. My calling is supporting people in the military that answer the call to go to war to protect The Constitution of the United States of America.
Just because God puts something on your heart to be a calling doesn’t mean it is going to be easy or blossom overnight. Everyone may not have the passion for your calling. So you have to be so focused, so persistent so prayerful that the thing you think is your calling, is actually your calling. Also be prepared to go it alone. Your family may not get it, your friends may not get it, your church may not get it, people on your board may not get it, people you think should support your passion, MAY NOT GET IT!
The Beautiful thing about a calling is, those whom God has called to support you will come out of nowhere. People whom you would least expect will understand and support your cause because God ordained it. The byproduct of your calling should be educating,  bringing people to the Kingdom of God. Your calling comes from, the Spirt of God. Like oil has many byproducts, gas to run our cars, plastics, medicines, your calling should somehow provide the way to the Kingdom and edify God.
So by sending care packages combat areas has been so fulfilling because the responses we get back from Colonels, Majors, Captains, and NCOs and below is confirmation this is God’s work!
